The Virginia Tech massacre was the “deadliest shooting rampage in American history” (Hauser). The shooting left thirty-three dead, including the gunman, and many others emotionally and physically wounded. Starting around 7:15 was the first shooting that left two dead. The campus police did not inform any of the students or faculty because they thought it was a domestic disturbance. But later they had realized they were wrong. About two hours after that, at 9:45, the gunman had recorded a video of him explaining his reasoning behind his rage, and he returned to the dormitories and shot and killed thirty one more students and teachers. The second shooting was obviously much worse than the first but could have been avoided. The way that the school informed their students about this event was by sending out an e-mail while the second shooting had already begun. The gunman, Seung-Hui Cho, had chained the doors from the inside and made the experience for the people inside torturous. In some cases the victims were lined against the wall and shot at. They did anything to get away from the shooter. Some even jumped out of the windows. Even when all of this was going on, a large amount of people on campus were not aware of what was going on. After this horrible incident, the survivors of the massacre explained to authorities how Virginia Tech will never be the same and that everyone involved was forever changed.
